Junior Update 11th May
Congratulations to all the girls who competed in the Championship on the 4th May.
12 junior girls entered the Championship at Castle Eden this year. 6 of them made it through to the Quarter finals. Unfortunately Shauna Holmes (Durham City) suffered an injury during the second round and was unable to compete on the following day.
Two of the juniors made it through to the quarter final – Laura Alexander (Eaglescliffe) and Rebecca Horner (Woodham). Rebecca won through to the final but was beaten by Pauline Dobson (South Moor).
As runner up, the Morton Trophy & 1985 Silver medal were won by Rebecca Horner, she also won the Burn Trophy as the Best Junior Qualifying Gross Score
.
The Best Nett over 36 holes was won by Alexandra Stevenson (Beamish Park). Alexandra, at the time, was only 10 years old which makes this a particularly impressive victory.
Durham City can be particularly proud of their junior girls as Rebecca Woolley, Shauna Holmes and Chloe Gallagher helped the club achieve the Team Shield (Gross) and the Team Shield (Nett).
It is sad that Mary Vine, a proactive supporter of junior golf at this club who died last year, was unable to witness the success of these 3 girls. She would have been very proud of them.
A very special congratulations to the 3 girls chosen to represent Durham in the County Team - Laura Alexander, Rebecca Horner and Rebecca Woolley.
The DCJGS Crombie and Green - 7th May. The girls section was won by Katie Milne with a nett 68; second was Aimee Goodlad with a nett 69 Congratulations!
Aimee Goodlad has now reduced her handicap by 7 shots this season – an impressive start to the year. Well done!
